In short

Emotional cycle
From disbelief to euphoria and back to capitulation — the crowd lives through every big trend this way.
Expectations
Consistent results take months and years, not two weeks.
Losses
Part of any system, not a failure.
The main enemy
Not the market but your own emotional decisions.

The market's emotional cycle

The crowd lives through every big trend the same way. Early in the rally: disbelief ("just a bounce like the others"). Then optimism, belief, and at the top, euphoria: "I'm a genius, I'm buying everything". The first drop is met with complacency, then denial, panic and capitulation: "never again".

The psychology of a market cycle: people buy in euphoria and sell in capitulation.

Most people buy near euphoria and sell near capitulation — exactly the opposite of what they should do. Knowing the cycle helps you spot these emotions in yourself.

Learn to lose like a professional

Every trader has losing trades, days, weeks and months. What matters isn't avoiding losses but responding to them correctly: don't dwell on them and keep your eye on the long run.

Half the trades lose — and the month is still greentotal +$150010 trades: 5 winners, 5 losers
Five winning trades made +$3,400 and five losing ones cost −$1,900. The month ended +$1,500. Illustrative data.

Realistic expectations

Forget about fast, big money. Trading is a profession like any other: you can't become a surgeon in a day. Positive results don't come right away — they take months, and more often years. Results and income are a side effect of doing the right things, not the goal of every trade.

Rules for your head

01
Stay neutral toward the market
Don't "believe" in a direction. Conviction leads to arguing with the market and averaging down.
02
Don't forecast — work with scenarios
A trader's job isn't to guess but to find the entry, control risk and manage the trade.
03
Limit trading after losses
A daily limit switches off revenge trading.
04
Judge the series, not the trade
One trade says nothing about a system.

If after a loss you feel an urge to get straight back in "to win it back", close the terminal. That's the most dangerous state for an account.

Common mistakes

Taking a loss personally

A loss is the cost of doing business. What matters is that the stop planned it.

Expecting a million in a month

Inflated expectations push you toward big size and leverage — and a blown account.

Switching systems after every losing streak

Jumping between strategies only creates chaos in your head.
